Kartik kumar md

Dr. Kartik Kumar, MD

Dr. Kumar specializes in all areas of pediatric ophthalmology, including strabismus, amblyopia, eyelid ptosis, and cataracts.

Kartik Kumar, MD, joins us after serving as the Director of Pediatric Ophthalmology & Strabismus Surgery at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston, TX.

Dr. Kumar graduated Magna Cum Laude from Washington University in St. Louis, obtaining a Bachelor of Arts degree in Chemistry with a biochemistry concentration and Philosophy-Neuroscience-Psychology. He completed his medical degree at UT Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, TX, followed by a residency in ophthalmology at the University of Kansas Medical Center, serving as chief resident.

Dr. Kumar pursued a pediatric ophthalmology fellowship at the Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, D.C. He spent 4 years as the Director of Pediatric Ophthalmology at Strabismus at UTHealth in Houston, where he was awarded the Dean’s Teaching Award and was selected as the Teacher of the Year by the ophthalmology residents.

Dr. Kumar has numerous publications and was noted to be one of Houston’s magazines “Top Docs” in ophthalmology and is board certified in Ophthalmology.

His research interests include visual development, amblyopia, and the treatment of strabismus. He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) and the American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus (AAPOS).

Dr. Kumar was featured on the TLC show, OutDaughtered, and performed strabismus surgery on one of the quintuplets, Hazel.

Dr. Kumar enjoys traveling, watching and playing sports, and spending time with his wife and three children in his spare time.

Dr anastasia alex

Dr. Anastasia Alex, MD

Dr. Alex specializes in pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus surgery.

Anastasia Alex, MD is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus surgery.

She was born and raised in Cleveland, OH, and moved to Texas to obtain her Bachelor of Science degree in Bioengineering at Rice University in Houston. She attended the University of Toledo College of Medicine in Toledo, OH where she graduated alongside her husband, AJ.

She completed her internship at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor, MI and ophthalmology residency at The Ohio State University in Columbus, OH, where she was awarded the Golden Bowtie Award for Humanism.

She completed her pediatric ophthalmology fellowship at Medical University of South Carolina, in Charleston, SC.Dr. Alex is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus.

In her spare time she enjoys playing with her child in addition to trying new restaurants and playing games with her family and friends.

Dr colleen walters od

M. Colleen Walters, OD

Dr. Walters conducts comprehensive eye exams, contact lens exams, and has a special interest in strabismus.

M. Colleen Walters, OD, is a Therapeutic Optometrist who obtained her degree from the University of Houston, College of Optometry in 1987. She completed an externship with Dr. Charles Garcia, a retinal ophthalmologist at the University of Texas Medical School at Houston.

Dr. Walters practiced with a large HMO in the Houston area until 1988 and worked in the Dallas-Fort Worth area ever since. Before joining us in 1996, she maintained a private practice in Farmers Branch. Dr.

Walters has developed a sizeable pediatric patient base by providing routine care for all ages and care to specialty strabismus and contact-lens patients.

Dr. Walters and her husband, David, a Chiropractic Professor at Parker University, have three wonderful children. Two of them are successfully attending college, and the youngest is a high school junior.

Dr. Walters is active in the Irving community and at the Shady Grove Church. She plays softball and has recently explored cake decorating with her daughters. Additionally, she enjoys spending time with her grandchildren.

Everett A. Moody, MD

After over 50 years of dedicated service to our patients and community, Dr. Everett Moody has decided to retire from Pediatric Eyecare of North Texas and begin the next chapter of his life.

We are deeply grateful for Dr. Moody's commitment, compassion, and contributions to our practice. His expertise and dedication have positively impacted many lives, and he will be greatly missed by colleagues and patients alike.

To ensure a smooth transition, our team is here to address any questions or concerns you may have. Dr. Kumar, Dr. Alex, and Dr. Walters are all committed to providing seamless care for Dr. Moody’s patients. Please do not hesitate to speak with our staff for assistance.
